	I woke up this morning I got nothing to wear, I thought, "Why do I care? Nobody’s there." I put on the coffee and I fussed with my hair. I got nothing to wear, why do I care? I dance all night with bare feet, pour a drink put my favorite song on repeat. My neighbors think I’m a freak. I know how to make the best of a losing streak. I put on my prom dress let it drag on the floor. I may be out of practice but I’m never a bore. Did my face like Bowie’s, painted up for the war. Checked a dozen times but no one’s at the door. I dance all night with bare feet, pour a drink put my favorite song on repeat. My neighbors think I’m a freak. I know how to make the best of a losing streak.

This is a little lighthearted song about the things you do to distract yourself and try to feel normal while dealing with social isolation. There are a lot of very serious things going on in the world right now, but I think it's ok to laugh and do something silly now and then. At the same time, I acknowledge that not everyone has the luxury of or desire for playful diversions and it is not my intention to make light of the suffering so many have experienced this year.

I've written a lot in 2020, and the theme I want to explore above all else is empathy. I have so much to learn.
